You might try contacting IRS' Taxpayer Advocate's Office. I've found them helpful on amended returns. They work through the mail and aren't a quick fix, but they do resolve problems. Their contact information is here:  http://www.irs.gov/Advocate/Local-Taxpayer-Advocate
