Did you e-file your tax return and was it accepted?
You complete your tax return by finishing all 3 Steps in the File section. In Step 3, to e-file your tax return, you must click on the large Orange button labeled "Transmit my returns now".
After completing the File section and e-filing your tax return you will receive two emails from TurboTax. The first email when your tax return was transmitted and the second email when the tax return has either been accepted or rejected.
Note - Once a tax return has been Accepted by the IRS or a State, TurboTax receives no further information concerning the tax return or the status of any tax refund. Only the taxpayer listed on the tax return can obtain the status of a tax refund or a tax return.
To check the status of an e-filed return, open up your desktop product or log into your TurboTax Online Account. You can find your status within the TurboTax product.
If accepted by the IRS use the federal tax refund website to check the refund status - https://www.irs.gov/refunds
If the status of the 2020 tax return is Rejected or it was never e-filed by you then you will have to print and mail the tax return.
To access your current or prior year tax returns sign onto the TurboTax website with the User ID you used to create the account - https://myturbotax.intuit.com/
Scroll down to the section Your tax returns & documents. Click on the Year and Click on Download/print return (PDF)
A 2020 tax return can only be printed and mailed, it cannot be e-filed.
Print, sign, date and mail the tax return to the IRS. Include with the mailed return any forms W-2 and 1099 which have taxes withheld. Go to this IRS website for mailing addresses - https://www.irs.gov/filing/where-to-file-paper-tax-returns-with-or-without-a-payment
There are no penalties for filing a tax return after the due date if filing for a tax refund or there are no taxes owed.
If IRS Refunds page shows nothing after seven months, you probably did not file.
I sure as hell mailed it, so I did everything I was supposed to. As soon as it left my possession the error is 100% their fault
I did not e file because it told me I was not applicable to do so. I appreciate the thourough answer though.
If IRS tells you they have no record of your return after seven months,
I suggest you mail in another signed copy.
