I sent them to the IRS to get approved and haven't heard anything back, I sent them two weeks ago

You won't here anything back on a tax return that is mailed. It takes longer than a couple of weeks for the IRS to process a mailed tax return. 

Check the status using this web site: https://www.irs.gov/refunds

This is for an original return not an amended return.
