No they are not the same.
Letter 6419 includes:
Letter 6475, relates to the third stimulus payment and includes how much you received in stimulus money last year
Thank you DoninGA. My problem is somewhat related.
What if I never received a Letter 6475? My $1400 stimulus was direct deposited, but I never received any reporting letter. It seems I can't complete my return without a letter being issued.
If I need to contact someone about sending me a letter, who would that be?
You can complete the section if you know the amount you received. When you are answering the stimulus questions, enter $1400 when you are asked how much your 3rd Economic Impact payment was. You don't need the letter to report what you received, especially if you know how much you received. If you want a copy of the letter or any other information IRS-related, consider setting up an online account at IRS.gov.
Thank you, Dawn. I live in Missouri so I have to file a state return. When I review it, it tells me I can't file because "You must obtain an update before you file your return in order to ensure that all calculations are correct." Does this mean a TurboTax update? I thought it was referring back to the 6495 letter.
Yes, You will have to update the TurboTax software before you e-file your Missouri state return.
Some of Missouri state forms are not yet ready for e-filing and TurboTax is working with Missouri state. It is expected to be ready by the second week of February.

Thank you so much, LoganathanB! I thought sure it was something I was doing wrong. Now I don't feel so frustrated.
