Thank you so much for this info! I just got my letter from the IRS today since I purchased a Daikin AC last year. Compiling everything now to respond to the IRS.
I received the same letter today from the IRS, saying my QMIN is missing or incomplete. I have confirmed that it is correct - Goodman's website lists the QMIN as I7Q6, which is what I entered. I will attempt to upload this document at the website they included in the letter and hopefully it works.
I'm still waiting on a response, but this is what I uploaded to try and cover all my bases
1. The letter I received from the IRS.
2. Screenshot from the Daikin Website Instructing Customers on the correct PIN I7Q6 to use for property placed in service btw
Dec 2024 & Jan 1, 2026.
3. Screenshot from the IRS website showing Daikin listed as a Qualified Manufacturer.
4. AHRI Certificate for High Efficiency Rating - (I think this is Important)
5. My invoice from the AC company for the new Daikin AC system.
6. My registration Certificate for the AC system
7. A print out of Form 5695 that I filed with Qualified Manufacturer number I7Q6 . (Though I did print it fresh from Turbo Tax since TT did an update when I was logging in.
Hopefully that covers everything.
Same situation here. How in the ever loving #### can the IRS be this incompetent? In 2026 they are literally not able to discern between the capital letter 'I' and the numeral '1' or the letter 'Q' and the numeral '0'. Talk about your tax dollars not working for you. I found this post by Google-ing along with other forums / blogs (Reddit, etc.) of people saying the same thing, getting the same letter from the IRS, having purchased Daikin / Goodman units, and getting the "you didn't' fill the form 5695 out correctly" letter even though their forms are filled out correctly. Shameful, just shameful that the IRS could be this incompetent. So now, I get to submit the same information again for a refund that I should have received probably 3 weeks ago, just so they can sit on it another 6-8 weeks according to the "we'll get around to it when we are good and ready" line in the letter I received.
They should have taken the "lessens learned" from VINs -Vehicle Identification Numbers - that never use I, O, or Q for a reason........and now here we are..........
I was reading in some forum about the IRS paying interest on refunds that were not delivered after 45 days, if it was due to an IRS hold up. I'm wondering if anyone that has finally got their refunds paid, had any interest paid to them since this is taking significantly longer than 45 days at no fault of the taxpayer????? I'd be surprised, but thought I would ask.
Unfortunately it appears to be a turbotax bug . Other online tax programs are not experiencing issues. TurboTax Ned's to issues some refunds for the buggy program .
Got same letter from IRS . Best solution , down load the 5695 form from irs website and hand fill it in and send though irs.gov/connect .
