I received a notice from the IRS that they did not receive my 2017 tax return. What can you do to help me? This has REALLY messed up my 2018 filing!

The IRS received my payment of $1650 due for 2017 but per their letter, did not receive a filed return from you.  Can you please check on this?  Now I am unable to file my 2017.

if the IRS says it hasn't received your 2017 return, it may not matter what TT shows.  And TT will not check for you.  

as to 2018, the only issue would be if you had a 2017 overpayment that you applied to 2018.  if not, then there should be no reason why you can't efile 2018.  use 0 as 2017 agi
