When a taxpayer receives additional forms (such as another W-2) or important information after they have filed their original tax return, the process they need to follow to change the tax information reported to the government (IRS) is called "amending" their tax return. If a state tax return was filed, then that tax return will need to be amended as well (with the respective state department of revenue).
But before you start with an amended tax return, please know that you'll need to first wait until your original return is completely processed, and your original tax refund is sent to you. This itself can take a few weeks. After that time you can then print and mail in your amended return (plus state, if applicable). And yes, amended tax returns must be printed on paper and physically mailed; they cannot be e-filed.
For further information,
please find below a link to a TurboTax webpage for the current year amendment
process. We will keep that page updated throughout the tax filing season, and the software should be ready shortly (the IRS is still finalizing their amended return specifications for the 2016 tax year as of the writing of this answer). Once it is available, you can follow the instructions that will be published there to amend your own tax return.
