I realized after i completed the return on line and it was ready to file that i needed to add a W2.

how can I re-open and edit my return since turbo tax has locked it out?  I have not filed the return yet.  I want to make the change before I file.  Can I have access to the original 2016 return so i do not have to send an amended return.

You can get back into your original return using the steps here below:

• Log into your TurboTax account and click My TurboTax at the top
• You should be on the Tax Timeline now
• Scroll down to SOME THINGS YOU CAN DO section
• Click Add a state (not really adding one, just a way to get back into return) 
• Once you are in, click on Federal Taxes tab, Wages & Income and Edit/Add next to the W-2 section there. 
• On the next screen, click Add another W-2
