I paid 214 in state taxes, but am getting back 314 why?

it says I'm getting 314 back from state, but I only paid 214 I'm wondering why

I paid 214 in state taxes, but am getting back 314 why?

I can't tell without more information, but some tax credits are "refundable." That means you can get more money back than you paid. The Earned-Income Tax Credit is one of those.
