I read that if I only have SS income, I do not need to file a return. Is that correct.
No I am not a sub contractor, just trying to get my tax return correct.
My income is solely from SS monthly benefits. I never received a 1099 but know the exact amount I collected.
If you only get Social Security or SSDI or ssi it is not taxable and you don’t need to file a tax return. Are you married? No other income like interest?

You can get a duplicate SSA-1099 by downloading it on my Social Security account online. You can also call the Social Security Administration at 1-800-772-1213 to request a duplicate SSA-1099. If you only receive social security, you may not need to file a tax return. The federal filing requirement depends on your filing status, your age, and your income.
