I need my 2016 Louisiana return but when I pull it up, it shows 2015. How can I get a copy of my 2016 Louisiana return with the correct year showing on it?

You have to sign onto your 2016 online account using the exact same user ID you used to create the account.

Close all TurboTax windows on your web browser (including this one).  Copy and paste the account recovery website link onto a new web browser window and run the tool.

Use this TurboTax account recovery website to get a list of all the user ID's for an email address.  Run the tool against any email addresses you may have used - <a rel="nofollow" target="_blank" href="https://myturbotax.intuit.com/account-recovery">https://myturbotax.intuit.com/account-recovery</a>

If none of the user ID's received will access your 2016 account, then use the option shown in blue on the account recovery website, "Try something else"

If you used the desktop CD/Download editions installed on your computer, the only copy of your tax data file and any PDF's will be on the computer where the return was created.  TurboTax does not store online any returns completed using the desktop editions.

I am able to access my 2016 tax returns.  the problem is that my 2016 state return shows the wrong year.  instead of 2016, it shows 2015.  Is there any way that the year can be changed on the return to show the correct year?

Are you sure you didn't use the 2015 program to do your 2016 return (or maybe a proforma version of it)?

Not as far as I know.  The federal return that was done at the same time shows 2016.  That's why I was surprised when it was pointed out to me that the state return shows 2015.  Unless Turbo Tax had the 2016 for federal and 2015 for Louisiana.

When you view the PDF that you downloaded from the TurboTax 2016 online account, below the federal tax return forms, schedules and worksheets would be the state tax return.  On the Louisiana state tax return Form IT-540 at the top of the state tax return should be printed "2016 LOUISIANA RESIDENT".  Are you saying that the Form IT-540 shown in the PDF actually says "2015 LOUISIANA RESIDENT"?

Could you have saved the pdf early in the year before the state program was updated?  Are you opening a pdf file you have saved on your computer or downloading it from an online account?  Did you use the Online version or the Desktop installed program?

Yes, it does.  When I print my 2016 returns, the federal shows 2016 but the state shows 2015 .  I used the o line version.  I am downloading it from the Turbo Tax website.

You will need to contact TurboTax support on Monday for this problem.  To get the correct year for the state return you are going to need the TurboTax 2016 desktop edition installed on your computer and download the Louisiana state program after installing the 2016 desktop software.  TurboTax support should provide the 2016 installation file to you at no charge because of this problem and push the file to your download account.

You will need the 2016 tax data file from the online edition downloaded also.

To get the 2016 tax data file sign back onto your download account.  When you land on the Welcome Home screen click on My TurboTax at the top of the screen.  On the 2016 Timeline under the section Some things you can do:  Click on Download .tax file.

Note - You may also want to download a new PDF from the 2016 Timeline that includes all forms and worksheets.  Once this PDF is downloaded see if it also includes the 2015 state return or it may have the 2016 state return.
