Another way is through the IRS and it is free .

They can be mailed to you or viewed online if you have the correct information to submit.  Click on the link below to get your free return.  If you can order it online, you will have it instantly.  This will be a pdf that you can save to your computer.  Even if you have to wait for the mail, you will have it in 7-10 days.

If you don't want to pay the upgrade fee, be sure that you save your tax returns on your computer each year so that you will have a copy readably available.

I am now in the process of getting the transcript from the IRS. To summarize: I paid for the "deluxe" service when I filed my 2015 taxes but that does not allow me a usable copy of my transcript. To get that I would have had to pay also for 2016 or pay more now. This guarantees I'll keep using Credit Karma whether or not they ever charge me.
