I mailed my federal and state taxes in the beginning of February, how do I know if either were accepted? The IRS website is not finding anything.

The IRS asks you wait 4 weeks after you mail your return before looking up your refund at Where's My Refund? To find out where your refund is, first check your e-file status. If it's been processed and accepted, you can begin to track your refund at the IRS Where's My Refund? site.

Make sure to only enter your federal income amount, not federal and state combined. Another important factor can be if you are married filing jointly and make sure you are using the Social Security Number for the name that appears first on the return.

If it has been more than 21 days since your return was accepted, you can call the IRS directly to check on your refund status.
