The IRS will not begin accepting returns until Jan. 23. TurboTax will probably begin allowing you to submit a return in early January that they will hold until the IRS allows them to submit it around Jan. 23. Once you submit it to TurboTax, you can't change it. You should wait until you get tax forms such as W-2s before submitting your return for filing.

Have you received all your 2016 Form W-2's and Form 1099's so you can complete the 2016 tax return?
