I got one of my child’s last name spelled incorrectly. Does this matter and how do I change it?

Yes, it does matter but if you E-filed your return, you won't be able to change it until the IRS accepts or rejects it.

If it's accepted, you're O.K. and you won't have to correct your return in order for it to be processed by the IRS. See My return got accepted. What happens next?

If it gets rejected, follow the "fix it" instructions and correct the last name spelling. See also How do I fix a rejected return?
