I got a letter stating my Ohio state return is "under review" and have to support documents to prove that I filed . Does this affect my fed return ??!

I called they just said they needed to verify that I'm the one who filed and not someone else since I used turbo tax . Just protecting me basically from fraud .

No, it's strictly an OH procedure, due to rampant fraud last year.

It has no effect; I filed jan 26...recieved my federal return within a week and within days of reciving my fed refund i recieved the same 'manual review' letter.  apparently i have to mail in all documents used to file via turbo tax. How long did the process take for your state return to get approved? When i called the state tax people they informed me they only accept mail or fax (no email).

Does the same apply for Virginia or any state? I just received the letter stating my income tax return was under review from the Commonwealth of Virginia, but I'm concerned that this will freeze/hold my federal return just as they are holding my state return.

your state being under review will not have any affect on your federal. I am going through that now. My federal is approved to deposit on February 10, 2016. I havent received a letter from the state yet but I check the online state of michigan where my refund and it indicated that my return is under review, completion date is September 7, 2016.
