I got a letter from the IRS saying I'm eligible for the EIC but didn't claim it when I filed, I mailed the letter back like they said,can I check status of payment

you can check the amount of the credit, and other things, by opening an account at IRS.gov and looking at your "record of account".

The IRS form 15111 said you MAY be eligible and they were requesting the 15111 filled in and sent back.  Your refund may or may not change and this could take several weeks to months to process ... this will take time.  You can check your return's progress using the original refund on the original return here :   www.IRS.gov/refunds
