I got a letter from IRS today saying "We received your Forms 1040X for the tax periods listed above and found forms not signed."I don't know how that is possible?

You cannot e file an amended return it must be mailed in? Did you amend a return for that year?

Yeah, I did! But I didn't fill in the form by hand. Its generated online from the info I entered when doing my original tax return and I printed it out and mailed it off.

So you didn't sign it when you mailed it? Did they send the 1040X back? They usually send the 1040X back for you to sign.

I just checked the copies I made of my amend and yeah I didn't sign SEVERAL pages. Oh dear..but they didn't send me the 1040X back..hmm..

You are supposed to sign each paper sent in. They may send it back.
