I got a letter from irs because they are holding my return I did what they said to do in the letter to verify and nothing happens what to do now?

I received a CP5071 in the mail because my return is still processing and I did the steps they said with no luck, tried to contact no answer, what do I do now? Totally frustrated single father with kids.

Keep in mind, it normally takes the IRS 6-8 weeks to process the extra information you have sent them.

If it has been longer than that and you are unable able to get things resolved with the IRS directly (1-800-829-1040), you can contact the Taxpayer Advocate. The Taxpayer Advocate is there to help you deal with the IRS when you are unable to get things straightened out on your own.

according to TAS rep I spoke to, they can do nothing until IRS gives you  a determination. which you are still waiting for.
