Property taxes paid are an itemized deduction on Schedule A.  The vast majority of tax payers can no longer use itemized deductions since the increase of the Standard Deduction.

The total of all your itemized deductions on Schedule A must be greater than the standard deduction for your filing status to have any tax benefit.  If this is the case there is no reason to amend your 2023 tax return.

Standard deductions for 2023

Single - $13,850 add $1,850 if age 65 or older
Married Filing Separately - $13,850 add $1,500 if age 65 or older
Married Filing Jointly - $27,700 add $1,500 for each spouse age 65 or older
Head of Household - $20,800 add $1,850 if age 65 or older

Yes, there is a way to correct a filed return.  But, please consider all of the valuable information provided by DoninGA above.  If you did not itemize your deductions and this $3,500 does not add enough to qualify for itemized deductions, then there is no need to file an amended return.

TurboTax allows you to amend your return for FREE. So, one way to ensure whether you need to file an amended return is to prepare the amended return using TurboTax.    If you prepare the amended return and there is no change to your refund status for both Federal and State then you do not need to submit the amended return.

If you decide to amend the return, you will have to wait until your original return has been fully processed before submitting the Amended Return.  You should receive your refund or some notification that the return has been processed.
