If I am correct, you filed saying you did not receive the $1,00 Stimulus but after you filed you received a letter stating otherwise. I know what you mean, those letters came out last week. However, if you have not received your refund yet, The IRS will most likely adjust your refund amount by the $1,400. They have that information but you never know, maybe they just received that information when the letters went out.
In any event, you have to let the dust settle and see how it comes out. You are waiting to see how the IRS handled your refund. The amount may be taken from your refund.
Now if you have not received the Stimulus of $1,400 then you may want to dispute that. with the IRS. You can request an IRS payment trace if you received the confirmation letter from the IRS that your payment was sent (also called Notice 1444), or if the Get My Payment tool shows that your payment was issued but you have not received it within certain time frames. This is the case for all three checks.
You can initiate a payment trace either by phone at (800) 829-1954 or (800) 919-9835 for stimulus payments, or by completing Form 3911, Taxpayer Statement Regarding Refund. You may also use this link for additional information: Get My Payment
"either by phone at [phone number removed] or [phone number removed] for stimulus payments, or by completing Form 3911, "
@Cynthiad66 Expert,
correct your canned reply.
IRS sends you the form 3911, you have to call in to ask for it.
@Bumpermanjr If you claimed the 1,400 credit on your return and the IRS took it off then you are not getting a refund now. Now you have a tax due. So don't wait to pay it. Who got it for you? The IRS thinks they sent it to you.
Double check your bank accounts and check both your IRS accounts if married to see when and how much the IRS sent you.
