I filed single on my tax return instead of married filing separate. Is this going to cause problems when my wife files her taxes?

You cannot file Single when you are married. When your spouse files her tax return as Married filing Separately, she has to provide your name and SSN on her return.

The IRS will match up her return with yours and will send both of you  letters asking for explanations.

You may want to find an amended return now.
