Hopefully you did not amend until your filed return had been fully processed and you received any refund. Amended returns take about 4 months to process normally but this year because the the COVID-19 shutdown and the delay in processing mail it will probably take 6 months or more, however if the amended return was entered in to the IRS system before the first return was fully processed then the delay can be much longer then 6 months.
Mailing an amended return a week after filing the original return may be causing confusion and delays that will cause your refund to take longer; as for your stimulus check--you may or may not get it this year, especially since they can look at either 2018 or 2019's return. Your 2019 return is in "limbo" that may take quite awhile. If they do not have a 2018 return to look at, you may end up waiting to the stimulus money on your 2020 return next year. The stimulus check is really an advance credit that you can get when you prepare your 2020 return in early 2021.
Going forward--if you ever find that you need to amend a tax return--wait for the original return to be fully processed before you send in an amended return. You have three years to amend a tax return; rushing it may just make everything take longer,
