I filed my taxes and received the refund then received a 1098T and filed out the 1040X. The amount refund is changed to a lesser amount than what I originally received.

My filed 1040 gave me a refund of $5,582. The 1040X I filled out now tells me on line 18- $5,582 and on line 22- $ 2500. Does this mean I get additional $2,500 or do I owe IRS from the original refund of $5.582. I have received the refund already.

The $2,500 is the additional refund amount you will receive. 

Line 18 on Form 1040-X shows the original refund amount you received, which was the $5,582, and Line 21 shows the amount of the refund from the Amended return. 

Line 22 shows the amount of Line 21 that you want to have refunded to you (which is the $2,500).
