Do what exactly--without a fee? What are you trying to do? If you did not e-file successfully for 2022, the only way you can file the 2022 return now is to file it by mail. E-filing is closed permanently for 2022 (and 2023).
Not sure why the IRS would tell you that you must use a professional tax preparer---are you certain they said that? The IRS does not require you to pay a tax preparer to do your tax return.
What does your TT account say for 2022? Does it show that an e-file was accepted--or rejected? Or does it say "printed" or "ready to mail?" If it says anything other than accepted, then you need to file it now by mail.
You have to access your own account and/or print it for yourself using exactly the same account and user ID that you used when you prepared the return.
Start a 2023 return online and enter some personal information so that the menu on the left opens up and lets you access your past year returns.
Many people have multiple TT accounts and forget how to access them. Log out of the account you are in now.

Or did you use the desktop version of TurboTax? If so, the files are on your own hard drive or any backup device you used like a flash drive.

You can get a free transcript from the IRS or for a fee of $30, an actual copy of your tax return.

SAVE YOUR TAX RETURNS !
EVERY year before mid-October you should save a copy of your tax return as a pdf and print a copy of it for your records. That way you will not be searching online frantically when you need it for a lender, FAFSA forms, your next tax return, etc.

NOTE: TurboTax and the IRS save returns for seven years. Returns older than seven years are purged.
If you have a paper copy of the 2022 tax return, then you only need to sign and date the tax return, then mail the 2022 return to the IRS, it cannot be e-filed.
Go to this IRS website for where to mail a federal tax return, with or without a payment, by state - https://www.irs.gov/filing/where-to-file-paper-tax-returns-with-or-without-a-payment
Include with the mailed return copies of all forms W-2 and 1099 which have taxes withheld.
Thanks. I wasn't sure as their site (IRS.GOV) said I needed to go through a preparer (or at least that's how I read it) Ill make a copy and mail it.
Thank you!
Thank you for the information. I must have misread the IRS website in that a preparer could only send them past tax (forms). I have hard copy from TT that I can send them. As to multiple TT accounts, I'm not sure I have more than one, but I research that.
Thank you
