I filed my 2017 taxes with Turbo Tax last year (paid, deluxe). Getting my taxes filed this year, I realized that Turbo Tax guided me wrong last year. How do I change it?

I am unmarried with a dependent. TurboTax guided me to file as single last year, I was guided to file as Head of Household this year as I have a dependent and this made my return a lot higher. I need to change last year's return, TurboTax should have guided me to file as Head of Household. How can I do that?

(If ex was claiming dependent last year, you may not have been able to claim HOH....but the various mix of situations with Ex's can make the filing situation pretty unknowable for any of us to predict)

You would have to AMEND last year's tax return to see if it was possible, then mail in your amended 2017 tax paperwork if it does....to do that you need the Desktop software, along with a copy of your Online tax file...see here...but look for the special MAC instructions too.....a separate method will be required to download and install the 2017 MAC software that will allow you to proceed

Make sure you get your 2018 file in first ASAP....you can mess with your 2017 amended filing over the next few months at your leisure...and get them right
