I filed for my taxes last year but received nothing and I don’t want it to happen again this year

Did you have a refund on your 2019 return you never got?   Or didn't you have a refund or the IRS changed your return?  

Did you efile or mail your return? They didn't start opening the mail until June that's been stacking up. Back in March the IRS closed their processing centers and stopped processing mailed tax returns.

If you efiled....Was your return Accepted?When you efile you get back 2 emails. The first email only confirms the transmission. The second email says if the IRS (or state) Accepted or Rejected your efile.

Then only the IRS can tell you. IRS Where's my refund https://www.irs.gov/refunds/
Make sure you are using the refund amount from your actual federal tax return and not the combined amount Turbo Tax showed you at the end. That was for federal and state combined.

When you log into your account you should also see the status and if it was Accepted or Rejected, Started, Printed, Ready to Mail, etc.  what does it say?

Wow I e-filed my taxes for 2020 with turbo tax this was my first experience with them .. yeah!!! The web site made it very eazy to file and got me a good return. And free. Can’t complain about that… I filed at some of the worst tax pros out there not to mention any names. …Hanks tax service, Jackson Hewitt, liberty’s . Fell for there 500$ advance bank card never read the small print of that agreement  but basically states. There  taking half of what u get state and federal.  But at least I got something.anyways why did I go back to turbo tax. I don’t no and I’m seeing all the same. Status updates as last year.  I don’t really think. It’s. Coming definitely not in 3 weeks but let’s stay positive  and I still think turbo tax can get there job done right.  Stop blaming the Irs. It’s some thing to do with. Filling with turbo tax.  And using there free service plan.  But when u pay nothing  u get nothing.    This has been happening to a lot of people.  Who use.  Turbo tax.  But free.  The web site is so goood.
