I filed fed return using one 1099 amts from last year. If I wait until I can file an updated fed will it update the state. I have not completed the filing of state yet

Yes. If you amend your federal return (Form 1040X), the new 1099 amounts will flow to the state return. Since you didn't e-file your state, make sure you don't select that you have to amend the state return. Since you didn't file it, it doesn't need amending.

Wait until your first return has been processed by the IRS. If you're amending to claim more money, the IRS says to wait until you've received your original refund before filing an amendment.

  • Once you've received your original refund, feel free to cash or spend it while your amendment gets processed (this can take 12–16 weeks).

The IRS has not given TurboTax the final 1040X amendment form. They're scheduled to issue that form around February 22, 2019. When they do issue the form, see How to amend (change or correct) a return you already filed.
