I filed an amended return and now it is telling me I owe money instead of getting my federal. I am so confused

When you start the amend process, the refund that is shown in TurboTax is reset to zero. 

You will still get the original refund. The amended return will show the difference you owe, and you will need to mail your amended return along with the taxes owed based on the changes made on the amended return.
