I filed A1040X for 2015 for my severance pay from the army and they put my wife's name on the check.she soon not to be my wife and I need her name taken off and Reissued

I got a letter from the VA tell me that I did not need to pay taxes on my separation pay from the army file they 1040X for 2015 and they issued the check with mine and her name on it I need to have the check reissued and just my name due to us separating and it being my separation pay from the army not here.  How do I get the check reissued I can I get a single person at the Iris to tell me how to do this or figure out a number that is good to contact a single person there

If it was a Married Filing Joint return that was amended (she had to sign that 1040X, right?) then it comes in both names, no way around it.    If she refuses to negotiate the check with you, that's between your divorce attorneys.

But as noted, if the 2015 return was married filing jointly, the IRS will only issue a joint check.
