You did what ? Did you mail in a 2017 form 1040 with the 2018 info on it ???     Did you already file a 2017 return last year ?  If so the 2017 amendment should be rejected ... but now you must wait and see what they will do with that mistake.

Now for the 2018 return that has not been filed yet ... you can file it correctly now ... you can even efile it if you wish. Do NOT amend the 2018 return since a true one has not been filed yet.

Do you need to buy the 2018 Desktop program?  You have to buy a new program each year.  Or you can use the Online version to do 2018.  If you sent in your 2018 info on 2017 Forms you can still efile an original 2018 return.

If you still need to do a real original 2018 return we can tell you how to transfer from 2017 if you haven't messed it up by doing the wrong 2017 return with 2018 info.  

Now what happened with your real 2017 return last year?  Did that get filed and accepted?

If you mailed 2018 in on the 2017 forms then you have not filed 2018 at all so you do not need to amend it.
Hopefully they will mail it back to you if you already filed a real 2017 return.  Or you might have to fix up 2017.
