I enter in wrong account number for direct deposit and I already filed. How long will it take before receiving refund in the mail from IRS? I was told about 5 weeks?

I enter in wrong account number for direct deposit and I already filed. How long will it take before receiving refund in the mail from IRS? I was told about 5 weeks?

It can take about 3-4 weeks, maybe a touch longer. The IRS will send the funds to your bank, and your bank will reject them since your name will not be on the account. When the bank rejects the funds, they are sent back to the IRS, and then the IRS will prepare a paper check to mail out to you.
