I electronically filed my federal taxes and was to have them direct deposited in my bank account, but when I check status of my refund it says it’s to be mailed out?

If there was an issue with your direct deposit, such as one of the digits of your account number being entered incorrectly or an error within the IRS or bank system somewhere, then they will mail you a check instead as this is the only other method available to the IRS for issuing your refund.

You should receive notice from the IRS when they cannot complete the direct deposit and this notice will come via US Mail. This notice will let you know that a paper check should arrive shortly. Please see the following link for more info on the IRS notice you will receive.
