I didn't have my AGI to complete my 2017 return, can I complete my 2017 and 2018 returns, now?
Yes, you can complete both tax returns, but you can no longer file 2017 using TurboTax Online.
TurboTax Online only supports the filing of 2018 tax returns.
The IRS is no longer accepting 2017 tax returns for e-file, so you will need to finish your preparation, print and mail using Turbo Tax CD/Download. You can convert your 2017 online file to the product you need. Here is how:
Here is how to transfer from TurboTax Online to TurboTax Desktop:
1. Save your online return as a tax data file.
2. Sign out of TurboTax Online.
3. Install your 2017 TurboTax software.
o If you have not purchased TurboTax Desktop software, click here to select the product you need to complete your return.
o Important: If your return includes a state, make sure you also install the corresponding state program(s), otherwise you'll get Error 539.
4. Once installed, choose File > Open Tax Return in the software program.
5. Browse to where you saved your .tax2017 file and click Open.
6. If you get an error, delete your tax data file and repeat these steps from the beginning.
When you complete your 2018 tax return, you will report your 2017 AGI as $0 because the IRS is receiving your tax return after October, 2018.
