I did not claim my son who turned 18 on aug 2018, would that have changed my tax refund amount? Did that have Anything with IRS holding my refund and adding extra 1500?

Why did you not claim your 18 year old son?  If you claimed him it would have given you the $500 credit for other dependents which would reduce your tax due.  If you qualify for earned income credit, you did not get it if you did not claim your son.   TurboTax has no information on why the IRS is holding your refund or why they might be changing it.  You will have to wait for the IRS to finish processing your return and send you a letter.

Why did you not claim your 18 year old son?  If you claimed him it would have given you the $500 credit for other dependents which would reduce your tax due.  If you qualify for earned income credit, you did not get it if you did not claim your son.   TurboTax has no information on why the IRS is holding your refund or why they might be changing it.  You will have to wait for the IRS to finish processing your return and send you a letter.
