I closed my bank account, and need to change where my return is being sent to. How do I do that?

Once your return has been accepted (or mailed), it's too late to change your bank account for direct deposit.

• If you haven't filed yet, you can still change your bank account info for direct deposit.
• If the info you provided is for a closed or invalid account, the government will mail you a refund check.

It is too late to change your refund routing.

When your bank denies the refund deposit, the IRS will mail you a check to your address listed on your tax return.

This should take 3-4 weeks.
