If you file your return and it was accepted, amend it by deleting your son as a dependent if he doesn’t qualify. Even if he wasn’t a student he could still be your dependent if you provided more than half of his support and he earned less than $4,700.
to be a dependent he doesn't have to be a student if he was under 19 on 12/31 or if he was 19 or over on 12/31 he could still be your dependent if 1(his gross income was less than $4,700 and 2) and you provided over 50% of his support

We do not have enough information about your son to know if he could or could not be claimed as a dependent. Here are some rules that will help you to know. If you need to remove him as a dependent, then amend the return and change the information you entered about him in MY INFO or simply delete him in MY INFO. You will have to re-pay any dependent-related credit you received for claiming him--like the $500 credit for other dependents or possibly earned income credit, head of household filing status, etc.
WHO CAN I CLAIM AS A DEPENDENT?
