The W-4 you filled out for your employer does not dictate how you file your tax return. Your W-4 did affect how much tax you had your employer withhold, though. When you prepare your tax return, you just need to file with the actual facts--your filing status and how many dependents (if any) you actually have. If you end up owing because you claimed too many allowances in 2017, change it for 2018 to prevent the same thing from happening again.
