The e-file status website will not indicate nothing. Assuming that you are entering the correct Social Security number and the correct zip code for the address you entered on the tax return, the website will indicate the following if there is no information based on your entries -
No ResultsWe don't have a record of a return for the Social Security Number and ZIP code combination or Tracking Number you provided. This may mean that you entered the Social Security Number, ZIP code, or Tracking Number incorrectly; please check your information and try again. It could also mean the return has not been successfully transmitted.
You e-file the tax return by completing the File section of the program in Step 3 on the screen It's time to sign and transmit your 2016 return, you have to complete the required information on that screen and click on the large orange button Transmit my returns now.
When the tax return has been e-filed you will receive an email from TurboTax acknowledging the transmission. You will receive a second email when the tax return has been either accepted or rejected.
Go back to your 2016 online tax return and e-file the tax return.
When you sign onto your online account and land on the screen Let's continue your 2016 return, click on the large Orange button Take me to my return. From the 2016 online tax return click on the File tab at the top of the screen and complete each of the 3 steps.
Or if you sign onto your online account and land on the Welcome Home screen, click on My TurboTax at the top left of the program screen. This will take you to the 2016 Timeline. Under the section Some things you can do: Click on Add a state (you will not actually be adding a state). This will take you to the 2016 online tax return. From the 2016 online tax return click on the File tab at the top of the screen and complete each of the 3 steps.
