The IRS will be sending you a letter in the mail within the next few weeks explaining what they changed on your federal tax return to reduce the federal tax refund. If you do not agree with the IRS explanation there will be a procedure in the letter for you to use.
You can post back here if you have any questions concerning the IRS letter that is received.
Once a tax return has been Accepted by the IRS or a State, TurboTax receives no further information concerning the tax return or the status of any tax refund.
If the IRS reduced your refund, they will send you a letter in several weeks to tell you why your refund changed. There could be a variety of reasons including back taxes owed, child support you owed, or a mistake you made that the IRS caught and corrected. TurboTax gets no information after you file your tax return, so no one at TurboTax will know why your refund was less than the amount you expected.
