I am trying to e-file, i would like to receive my federal refund paper check but it does not come up as a option. Why?

Unless you specifically asked for direct debit you will receive a check.

Did you select to have the fees deducted from your refund?  That only is from Direct Deposit.  So you have to pay the fees upfront with a credit card.
