with a w-2 there is no self-employment tax. with a 1099-misc if it's for services rendered then in addition to the income taxes you pay an additional 15% in self-employment taxes.
It seems that the percentage is much more than 15%, more like 60%. And thats with deductions and credit. I’m not sure if the figures are an assumption of a refund received. I filed early February of 2020. No refund, After a year and 1 month later. I’ve made numerous attempts of reaching out to IRS. This has never happened before.
if you are amending ,
although not strictly correct, you can change the 1040X line 18 Overpayment to -0-
In Part III you can state you never got your original refund.
