I am trying to access my prior year returns. I have upgraded to Plus but still can't seem to access my returns. Has this happened to anyone else?

Have you located the prior returns, but when you try to download/print, does it tell you that access is locked until you pay?   Or do you not find the prior returns at all?

You appear to have upgraded beyond PLUS.  You appear to be using Deluxe.  At least that is what is shown next to your username above.    PLUS is 19.99, while Deluxe is 59.99 for Federal and 44.99 for state.

Did you try to upgrade a 2018 Free Edition return to PLUS but upgraded too far, or did you need Deluxe for your 2018 return because of your tax situation?   Have you already filed the 2018 return, or is it still in preparation?

The prior returns will not unlock unless they are the SAME account as 2018, AND you have to pay the 2018 product fee by credit/debit card.  If you try to pay now, it will charge you for Deluxe.   If you don't need Deluxe,  you can first downgrade to Free Edition, then upgrade to PLUS at 19.99.   We can tell you all the steps once your situation is clear.

Be aware there's a free option if a tax return transcript would suit your purpose.  You may be able to immediately download a prior return transcript at the IRS website at the link below.  If you don't qualify to open a free IRS account there, you can order one to come by postal mail, which normally takes 5-10 calendar days.

I have not accessed the prior returns at all. I apologize as I do not need Deluxe and would like to downgrade to Plus for $19.99. I have already filed my 2018 tax return. I need to access my 2016 and 2017 tax return. To confirm, you advised that the prior returns will not unlock unless I used the same profile to file them all. I can see all returns available under my account. Does this mean they were all filed under this one account?

        Probably, unless you started one in 2 accounts and filed one from another account.   When you click on each tax year, it will bring up some information about that year.  It will tell you if it was successfully filed or not when you look at the "Return status."

        Then are you sure they are locked?    Have you tried to download them?   If they are locked, when you try to download one of the prior years, it will ask you to pay.

        You cannot downgrade a return that has already been filed.   Did you upgrade after filing and upgraded too far, or did you use and pay for Deluxe when you filed the 2018 return?

Your only choice at this point is to phone TurboTax Support and tell them you accidentally upgraded to Deluxe by mistake, can no longer downgrade, and ask them to unlock the prior returns.   They may not even charge you.   I'll tell you how to reach them below.

If you upgraded to Deluxe after filing your 2018 return, you can no longer downgrade to PLUS.  If you try to pay now, it will charge you for Deluxe.

You'll need to phone TurboTax Support, and tell them you accidentally upgraded too far by mistake and can no longer downgrade to PLUS.   Ask them to kindly unlock the prior returns, and hopefully, if you're lucky, they may not charge you the 19.99.
