I am now attempting to file my tax year 2021 return and to clear up the mistake I made in January 2022 so that when my tax return is due in April 2023 I will be current.

. How do I correct the mistake I made in January 2022, and then, although it is now late, file my tax year 2021 return and therefore be current when it is time to file my tax year 2022 return? In other words, how can I correct the mistake that I made, get my late tax return filed and bring myself current, and then file my tax return this year on time?

To access your prior year online tax returns sign onto the TurboTax website with the User ID you used to create the account - https://myturbotax.intuit.com/

Start the 2022 online tax return by entering some personal information then click on Tax Home on the left side of the screen.

On the Tax Home webpage -

Scroll down to the section Your tax returns & documents.  Click on the Year and Click on Download .tax file

A 2021 tax return can only be printed and mailed using TurboTax, it cannot be e-filed.

Let me try this again with the entire statement since the way the system made me post the question was so disjointed as to not make the question intelligible.  The entire question with context"

I failed to file my tax return for tax year 2020, when it was due in July of 2021. I did not file that particular tax return on TurboTax until January 2022. In February of 2022 when I attempted to file my tax return for tax year 2021, I discovered that when I filed my late tax year 2020 return in January 2022, I had mistakenly listed it as the tax year 2021 return. TurboTax told me that I had already filed a tax return and I was unable to complete the process.
