I am filing 1040X. Do I need to attach new updated 1040 together?

You send in your 1040X return & any forms or schedules that changed due to the amendment.  You do not send in the 1040 return.  That is to show you how you return would have looked liked with the changes.  You keep the 1040 return for your records.

Make sure you sign the amended return.
