an incorrect w-2 is something the IRS is likely to catch and adjust without amending. you should get a notice informing you of the changes. if you agree you should not have to do anything. state if applicable may be diffferent
if the IRS doesn't correct then you'll have to amend
if you are due a refund wait for it then amend or if you owed after the IRS cashes your payment you can amend.
you should be able to e-file the amendment.
Mike9241 is right on target.
Since your e-filed return has been accepted, you’ll need to wait to see if you receive the refund amount shown on your return. If the amount is different, then the IRS likely made the adjustment to reflect what’s on your Form W-2.
However, if the amount is the same, you’ll need to amend your return to report the second W-2. You should wait to file your amended return until you get any refund you may have coming (or find that you owe a different amount) from your original return.
Please see the TurboTax Help article How to amend (change or correct) a return you already filed for instruction on how to amend your previously-filed tax return.
In the future, you should wait to file using your actual W-2, rather than pay stub information. You’ve seen firsthand that the paystub doesn’t always reflect your situation.
Yet another cautionary tale of filing without the actual W-2 form can cause trouble ... now all you can do is wait. If the IRS doesn't reject the return then you will wait longer ... you MUST wait for the IRS to fully process the return and send the original refund or a corrected amount. If the IRS doesn't catch the error you will need to amend later ... the amendment process will not even open until sometime in March ... in the meantime do NOT make any changes in the program until you see what the IRS does first.
Thanks. I normally wait. I was impatient this year. I never used a pay stub to file before.
