how will i receive my amended return refund? it was accepted immediately, but haven't received my refund and it has been 4 weeks. the IRS site won't give me any info.

Do not expect quick results from amending. It can take four months or more for the IRS to process an amended return.

I see - so even though it was "accepted" immediately, it'll still take 4+ months to be processed / pay out? 

I did check the IRS site but it says there is no information available for my return, even though it has been > 3 weeks.

Yes---even if "accepted" it will be months.   The IRS does not speed through processing amended returns.
