Did you double check the amounts entered from boxes 16 and 17 of the W-2? Make sure the amounts were entered correctly. Did your daughters earn similar amounts and have similar amounts of IL tax withheld?
based on standardized deductions and state taxes paid.
Illinois has no standard deduction and if she can be claimed as a dependent on your return she gets no exemption on her return if her base income is $2376 or greater so her taxable income for Illinois becomes the same as her federal adjusted gross income (barring special additions or subtractions)
Yes, I have deleted and re-entered her W2 information a few times to make sure it was done correctly. Both worked for the same employer and made almost the same amounts, one is getting a state refund and one is not. I know she's owed the state refund, makes zero sense to me. I'm going to file her taxes with a different service provider.
Are both girls being claimed as dependents?
Yes, they are being claimed as dependents on my taxes. I tried deleting all the info entered and redoing it, but not making a difference. I print the 1040 IL form and completed it myself and she should be getting back her state refund. Oh well, maybe it's a glitch because my other daughter processed fine.
