How to e-filed amended 1040x if I used turbotax software?

Filed back in February 2020 using Turbotax 2019 to file my 2019 taxes. 

Had to amend and fill out a 1040x to account my sports gambling winnings, but before I mail out the amended forms I read that turbotax can e-filed 1040x forms now. 

However when I opened my turbotax software it does not give me that option, however I see that option on the turbotaxonline website but my returns dont show there as I didn't file on the website. 

Is it possible for turbotax software users to e-filed their amended 1040x? If so, how to do it? I updated my program but it still told me to mail it in?

Log in and if you are not taken into the return scroll down and click on ADD A STATE ... then click on the REVIEW tab and make sure you have no issues to deal with and save/review the return prior to moving forward to the FILE tab to efile the amended return.

Use the method you used to file the return ... since you didn't say which one you used I gave the ONLINE instructions.  The Downloaded instructions are the same once you have the return opened.

Sorry, I used the software to file my initial 2019 return.

Then in March 2020, I prepared my amended 2019 return but did not mail it out due to covid issues.

Now, when I go back into the software I see my amended 2019 that was created in March 2020, but it only says to print and mail.

Would I have to start a new Amended 2019 return to get the file online option?

Did you efile or mail your original return?  I think you can only efile the Amended return if your first return was efiled and Accepted.  Maybe you have to tell the program your first return was accepted.

First you need to update your return with the filing status so it knows it was filed and accepted.  For the Desktop program you have to check the filing status inside the program.

Open your return and go up to menu item

File > Electronic Filing > Check Electronic Filing Status

Then save your return and close and reopen it.

I e-filed my original return and was accepted back in Feb 2020.
