How long does it take for your tax to come in the mail after you submit it? Will the state tax come in at a different time than the federal tax?

If you filed your return electronically, the IRS anticipates that you will receive your refund in about 21 days. If you filed a paper return then you will be looking at approximately 6-8 weeks. Your State tax return is filed with a different entity so yes you would not be receiving both refunds together. Please take a look at the link below:
